ABOUT P.O’N. CARDEN
Founded by Philippe in 1977, two years after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, the practice has specialised since the very early years in the tax affairs of individuals working in theatre and television. The specialism has broadened to include film, opera and dance as well as designers, writers and visual artists.
The team at P O’N Carden has grown accordingly. The return of Philippe’s Chartered Accountant daughter, Mondane, to the practice in 2012 was a welcome modernising influence and she became a partner in 2015. She is shaping the strategy of the practice as it faces the challenges generated by the increasing digitalisation of tax and commercial activities as well as changes in the patterns of work of both clients and staff.
Philippe’s lecture “How to survive the UK Tax System” is delivered annually to students at LAMDA, Central and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and is much appreciated.
In addition to the preparation of accounts and the completion of tax returns, we routinely carry out Double Tax Relief calculations for clients who work overseas and use the averaging rules for creators of literary and artistic works. When appropriate, we claim the Seafarers’ Earnings Deduction for performers who have worked on cruise ships.
